My name is Mandisa Lewis and I am 30 years old. I have a 1 year old daughter whom i love dearly.
I have been natural for the past twelve years and although it has been trying......I love it!
I relaxed my hair when I was just 11 years old then I cut off all the relaxer at 17. Yes, I literally cut my own hair. There and then i stared my natural hair journey. I wore a couple braided hairstyles before I decided to grow my ras (dreadlocks). I sported my dreads for 10 years. Some of them touched my butt, the length was awesome. Oh! and they were healthy too!
Unfortunately after I had my daughter I started to loose my hair, mostly from the hairline area. I did not know this was a thing......believe it or not hair loss after giving birth actually happens to a lot of women. Those who know me knows that one of my pet peeves is a thin/receding hair line (especially with a ras). Sooo in February 2016 i cut my crown! :(
I did extensive research into caring for natural hair. It was tough. Honestly, sometimes it still is but I manage. I embrace it and treat it with love. My hairline refused to grow back to its full potential but I"m still working on it.
I want other young girls and women to Love their hair as well. I enjoy styling my daughter's hair and I always tell her how nice her hair is. I will especially try to get my daughter to love her hair . Look at her fro at 10 months old. ❤
